Mon 22nd April – Food waste: not another rubbish training session!
We are delighted to be joined by the Sustainable Restaurant Association for this bonus in-person training as we explore food waste. They will share practical approach to valorising food and minimising waste in your business. This session will provide you with an introduction to circular food design principles for reducing food waste, with a particular focus on how to apply these principles in practice and enjoy the economic, social and environmental benefits of doing so.

Tues 26th March – Waste: an ugly truth
In this session, experts from Temple Group outlined the bigger picture of waste in the UK and how SMEs can make an impact. Participants explored the variety of factors which contribute to waste generation, particularly in a business setting, and the many significant environmental impacts of waste.

Weds 20th March – Supply chains and climate change for SMEs
In this online training, experts from Temple Group examined the critical relationship between supply chains and climate change, why it's crucial for businesses to calculate their supply chain emissions, and approaches to evaluating scope 3 emissions.

Thurs 14th March – Energy, climate change and SMEs
In this in-person session, experts from Temple Group introduced the relationship between energy use, carbon emissions and climate impacts for SMEs - including how energy use is causing a wide range of climate impacts, the energy mix in the UK, and how its development over time will impact businesses. Participants looked at lifestyle and business activities which contribute most to energy use and climate impacts, and developed their own energy use reduction pledges.

Thurs 7th March – Welcome Event
It was a pleasure to meet many of you at our Welcome Event, where we heard from three programme participants - Shakespeare's Globe, Smart Energy GB and Paladar - on their decarbonisation journeys to date and motivations for joining the Southwark Climate Collective. Councillor Emily Hickson, Deputy Cabinet Member for Green Finance, also shared with us details of a new ESG funding opportunity, the Southwark Green Investment Fund.

Tuesday 5th March – Freight: how and why to reduce its impact
In this in-person session at Southwark Cathedral, leading infrastructure & transport consultancy, Steer, highlighted the links between delivery & servicing activity, carbon emissions, air quality, and climate change. The session looked at how SMEs can reduce, retime, remode and reroute delivery and servicing activities in order to reduce their carbon footprint. Download the slides here.

Thurs 2nd May – Business beyond waste (online)
This online workshop, led by ReLondon, will dive into the ways you could use 'stuff' more wisely to cut costs; win new customers, grow sustainably and thrive. Explore practical and relevant solutions such as reusable packaging, refills for food or cleaning products, repair services, upcycling waste, rentable jewellery and clothing, sharing space, and more!

Tues 14th May – Energy Data and Efficiency
Join us for an online session with Temple Group, looking at common energy & consumption metrics, as well as the chance to understand your energy measurements and identify actions to deliver real energy efficiency improvements both in your workplace and at home.

Weds 15th May – Freight: data-led delivery and servicing planning
Join us for a deep-dive into ways you can optimise and streamline your delivery and servicing scheduling, featuring examples from the SCC freight workstream audits. The workshop will also address common challenges around communicating with stakeholders and the option to make a pledge to an achievable commitment for your organisation relating to reducing emissions and air pollution.

Weds 22nd May – Sustainable Management of Supply Chains
Join us for an in-person workshop led by Temple Group, exploring practical strategies for measuring and reducing supply chain emissions in an SME context. The session will walk through the methodology used in the SCC Supply Chains audit model, with guidance on how to map out, prioritise and reduce your impacts through actions like logistics optimisation and supplier collaboration.

Thurs 20th June – Carbon Literacy Training
You and your team are invited to join an in-person Carbon Literacy training as part of the Southwark Climate Collective. Join the Positive Planet team for an informative and interactive Carbon Literacy Certified training course to gain a qualification that is recognised by the United Nations. This Carbon Literacy training is aimed at Southwark SMEs and provides your business with an awareness of the climate-related costs and impacts of their activities and the ability and motivation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Thurs 27th June – Summer Party
Join us at The Rosy Hue in Elephant Park for a chance to reflect on your journey so far, catch up with others on your workstream (or other workstreams), and share any challenges and feedback with us over drinks and canapes.

Tuesday 11th June – Bikes for Business: Deliveries made easy
Join MP Smarter Travel for a hands-on workshop exploring how you might consider introducing cargo bike journeys to replace van trips for inbound and outbound deliveries - from office supplies to catering. The session will look at operators and operating models, costs and local cargo bike use case studies. We will conclude the session with a visit to Fully Charged, a local eBike retailer, to see and try different cargo bikes.
